French, fourth quarter of 18th century. Louis XVI walnut or beech wood carved fauteuil having a guilloche carved and tapering padded rectangular back surmounted by a beaded molded crest joined by husk carved scrolling padded arms on foliate carved supports enclosing the serpentine seat with beaded molding and raised on turned, tapering and fluted legs headed with patera blocks and ending in toupie feet. The back, elbow rests and seat covered in soft gold silk. The underside of seat rail hand written 'Made in France'. Approximate height 34.75", width 24.25" (arm to arm), seat depth 18", seat height 15.5".
