Spode (English, founded 1776), circa 1802 - 1810. Set of four Spode Tree of Life plates, pattern 282 based on a Japanese Kakiemon original. The circular plate centered with a tree with blue, green, yellow and pale orange leaves and blossoms within a band of iron red scrollwork and rich gilt work, the border with scarlet and orange florals with four reserves of Oriental flowers separated by a gilt and iron red flowerhead and scrollwork ground. The back of the rim is also decorated in the Oriental manner. Each plate has an underglaze blue double circle to the center of the back. Marked 'Spode' in red enamel, with pattern number 282. Approximate diameter 8.37".
