Tiffany & Co (American (New York), founded 1837). Two sterling silver pieces; an oil can Vermouth dropper along with a compact case. The dropper modeled as an oil can with twist off top. The compact case monogrammed "REL" and opening to a gold wash interior. The dropper measures 4" in height and hallmarked "TIFFANY & Co STERLING". The compact has a 2" diameter and hallmarked on interior rim to one side "TIFFANY & Co STERLING", the other side 5587M2355", indicating production between 1873-1891 under the directorship of Edward Moore. Approximately 2.42 troy ounces. Provenance: Property from the Estate of Mr. John L. Roper II, Former Owner and CEO of NORSHIPCO (Norfolk Shipbuilding and Drydock Corporation), of Norfolk, Virginia. Mr. Roper collected a number of fine American antiques and art including a noteworthy early American coin collection that sold at auction in 2014.
