Edward Boehm (American, 1949- ) for Lenox (American, 1889-) circa 1970-1981. Complete set of twelve limited edition Ornithological cabinet plates, each plate has an intricate floral design border of 24-karat gold and decorated to the center features the bird species in naturalistic scenes. Included in this set are: "Wood Thrush"-1970, "Goldfinch"-1971, "Mountain Bluebird"-1972, "Meadowlark"-1973, "Rufous hummingbird"-1974, "American Redstart"-1975, "Cardinal"-1976, "Robin"-1977, "Mockingbirds"-1978, "Golden-Crowned Kinglets"-1979, "Black-Throated Blue Warbler"-1980, "Eastern Phoebe"-1981. Front of each plate is signed "Boehm". The backside of each plate is marked with maker, year, and title. Diameter approximately 10.75". Note: Lenox commissioned artist Edward Marshall Boehm to design a series of different Lenox bird plates. Because a complete series consisted of 12 different plates, and each individual plate took one year to produce, an entire 12-plate series of Lenox Boehm bird plates took 12 years to complete.
