Barry Merritt (American, active 2nd half 20th century), dated 1987. A unique modern mixed metal brooch entitled "Colorado" having faceted organic round sterling body mounted at center with a pyramidal rose quartz gemstone set in a 14k yellow gold simple bezel, each of the four facets of the silver body adorned with silver or gold ornamentation and impressed designs of dog and human heads. Signed to back "11/4/87 / Barry Merritt / 'Colorado'" and " 13k / Sterling / Rose Quartz". Approximately 55mm (2.125") x 57mm (2.25") x 20mm. Approximate weight 26 grams.
