English, mid to late 19th century. A carved and stained oak Renaissance Revival converting hall bench or bench table, having a paneled seat back, carved with egg and dart molding, the center panel with fluted pilasters with holly capitals supporting a scalloped arch, above a hollow paneled rectangular seat, the front two panels carved with fluted pilasters with holly capitals and scalloped arches, with a hinged lid opening to reveal interior storage, with carved seat lion arm rests, a molded base, and bracket feet. The seat back folds down to rest on the arms, forming a table. Apparently unmarked. Approximate height (open, as bench) 40.5", height (closed, as table) 28.75", width 40.75", seat depth 14.5", seat to floor 20.325".
