A dimensional diamond pave platinum body and textured 18k yellow gold wings with fancy yellow diamonds, approx. 3.76 cts. TW throughout. Ca. 1944. Unmarked. 3" x 2 1/4". 15.0 dwt. Note: Maurie Duvalet collaborated with John Rubel on a series of fairy and ballerina brooches for Van Cleef & Arpels. Those brooches, while strikingly similar to this example, feature rose cut diamond faces. Very similar cherubic features can be found on a gold cupid brooch by Van Cleef & Arpels, Primavera Gallery.
