Tortoiseshell Singing Bird Box. Germany: Karl Griesbaum (attributed to), ca. 1905. Mechanical singing bird box with polished tortoiseshell case. Silver engraved lid depicts flowers and a bird in flight. Articulated wings and beak. Hinged key compartment at rear. Bird sings and moves for approximately sixteen seconds before disappearing back inside the box. With later key. 3 ¾ x 2 ½ x 1 ¼”. Good working condition. Video on request.
