Monumental pair of English silver candelabra, 1834-1835, bearing the touch of Robert Garrard, each with six serpentine arms radiating outward and adorned with bellflower chains, gadrooned stems, and leaf decorated candlecups, supported by a base profusely decorated with shells, flowers, and acanthus leaves, the base with an engraved coat of arms, the initials WR , inscribed with the motto of the Order of the Garter Honi Soit Qui Mal Y Peuse (Shamed be he who thinks ill of it) , 30 3/4" h. , 509 ozt.
