Ali had the honor of being the last member of the 1996 Olympic Torch Relay, thus lighting the Olympic flame at the opening ceremony of the 1996 Summer Olympics at Centennial Olympic Stadium in Atlanta on July 19, 1996, marking the official opening of the games.
