Diego Rivera (Mexico, 1886-1957) unframed chalk drawing depicting a girl playing or working with a block or brick. Measures 14" in height with width of 16-7/8". No authentication paperwork accompanies this piece, however signature and style are consistent with those of known works by the artist. It does come with the original bill of sale where it was purchased by Jack Beny from Diego Rivera, & the document is signed by Diego Rivera himself. (See photographs). Provenance: from the estate of a prominent Texas collector, who acquired it from Jack Beny, a friend of the collector. He was said to have Converso ancestry (having ancestors who were forced to convert from Judaism to Catholicism), & considered Jewishness to be a dominant element throughout his life.
