British, late 19th/ early 20th century. "Portrait of a Distinguished Elderly Lady", oil on canvas, apparently unsigned. Painting depicts a skewed view of an elderly white woman seated in half bust wearing a fully ruffled dress and blouse, with gray hair pinned up on her head, wire rim spectacles on her nose, and crossed hands. Plaque on framed below painting reads "A.E. Pearce" and could indicate famed artist Arthur Ernest Pearce (Scottish, 1859-1934). Framed 13" x 12.25", unframed 7 1/8" x 6 1/8".
