English, 18th/19th century. "Shakespeare's King Henry the Fourth", hand colored engraving by William Satchwell Leney (English, 1769-1831) after the painting by Henry Fusch. Originally published March 25, 1795, by J & J. Boydell in London. Engraving depicts a scene from Shakespeare's "King Henry the Fourth" in which a young beauty sits upon the lap of a seated king as he drinks wine from a silver chalice, with a pair of other beauties peeking in through a doorway to the right. Inscribed below image lower left "Painted by Henry Fusch R.A." and lower right "Engraved by W. Leney". Framed 31.5" x 25.5", unframed sight size 22.5" x 16.5".
