Anna T. Carmody (American, 1895-1969) Collection of Oils and Works on Paper, including two unframed oil on canvas portraits, one framed charcoal portrait, one rolled oil on canvas figure study, one unframed portrait head of a woman thought to be of Anna Carmody by an unknown artist, and three portfolios of over forty unmatted drawings, watercolors, and scratch boards. Many signed or initialed. Sizes to 30 x 22 1/2 in. Condition: Varies. Provenance: Gift of the artist, to the current owner by descent. N.B. Rhode Island native Anna Carmody graduated from the Rhode Island School of Design in 1917. She also studied at the Art Students League and the Grand Central Art School in New York, and at the Breckenridge School of Art in Gloucester, Massachusetts. In 1935 she took a class on the figure under Hans Hofmann. She taught drawing at RISD from 1920 to 1947. Carmody summered on Block Island and at the Woodstock (NY) Art Colony. She exhibited at the Providence Art Club, the South County (RI) Art Association, the Art Institute of Chicago, the Studio Guild (NY), and the Boston Art Club.
