Ara Güler (Turkish, b. 1928) Süleymaniye Mosque and the shore of the Golden Horn at Unkapani on a winter day, as seen from Galata Bridge, 1955. Signed "Ara Guler" in ink l.r., stamped with the photographer's studio label on the verso at center. Gelatin silver print, image/sheet size 15 1/8 x 9 7/8 in., unmatted, unframed. Condition: Minor handling crimps, affixed to black paper mount at upper half. Provenance: Acquired from the artist in Turkey in the 1980s by the current owner. N.B. A member of Magnum Photos since 1961, Güler is an Armenian/Turkish photojournalist who captured Turkey's political transformation in the 1950s.
