Bradley Eight-day Detached Lever Miniature Longcase Clock, Liverpool, United Kingdom, c. 1840, walnut veneered case with barley-twist columns on the hood flanking the 4-in. glazed dial opening over the silvered brass roman numeral dial signed in the arch EIGHT DAYS/Detached Lever/by/James G. Bradley , seconds dial below center and blued-steel spade hands, the waist section with faux door, banded inlay and decorative centered panel, the base with single-stage molding resting on a flat surface, back rear door opens to the brass movement with detached lever escapement, steel balance wheel with diamond endstone, single pointer regulator and going barrel and winding arbor held with its own bridge, ht. 21 1/2 in. Note: A James Gibbon Bradley is listed in Liverpool from 1825-35 (Brian Loomes, Watchmakers and Clockmakers of the World, Vol. 2 , p. 28). This miniature appears to be unique with its original sales intent unknown. Movement, dial, and case all appear to be of the period.
