Folio, first edition, later issue, illustrated with hand-colored engraved title page and fifty-five hand-colored aquatints of battle scenes by Thomas Sutherland after drawings by William Heath, uncut, bound in full blue morocco, gilt-decorated by Birdsall; a few stray spots of foxing to text, two text leaves with minor repaired closed tears along outer margin, plates clean, 11 x 14 in. "As a record of naval events spanning a period of over twenty years, Jenkins's Naval Achievements has no precedent. At no time prior to 1817 had a publisher attempted such a complete volume of documentary naval prints. It is the quality of the accuracy which makes Jenkins so valuable above all."
