Rugendas, Johann Lorenz (1775-1826) Benjamin Franklin, né à Boston, dans la nouvelle Angleterre le 17 Janvier 1706. Augsburg: Rugendas, [c. 1778]. Folio laid paper sheet with mezzotint portrait of Franklin, 14 1/2 x 9 1/4 in. Franklin is depicted seated in a library, in a fur-lined coat and hat, with his familiar spectacles and a challenging gaze. He holds a paper in his hand, other correspondence, ink and quills sit on a desk before him. Provenance: The Estate of David Spinney.
