Einstein, Albert (1879-1955) Typed Letter Signed, Princeton, New Jersey, 19 March 1953. Single sheet of Einstein's blind stamped Mercer Street letterhead, typed on one side in German, signed in ink. To J. Hansegger, of Long Island, thanking him for the flowers, and accepting the role of a "harmloser Zivilist." Old folds, with the original envelope, 11 x 8 1/2 in. "Herzlichen Dank für die prächtigen Blüten. Wenn Sie mich als ein harmloser Zivilist besuchen wollen, so wird es mich gewiss freuen." "Thank you for the beautiful flowers. If you want to see me as a harmless civilian, that would certainly make me happy."
