Oak Chest over Drawer, probably Massachusetts, c. 1650-80, the molded lift top opens to a well above a case with central panel with arch and turned drop, with flanking panels, oval bosses, moldings, and four pairs of turned split spindles, with crease-molding below and a single drawer with recessed molded panels flanked by spool-turned split spindles, old surface, (height loss), ht. 27, wd. 42 1/4, dp. 20 3/4 in. Provenance: Aruthur W. Wellington, a Boston collector of the late 19th century and founding member of "Trestleboard," a Boston antiquarian group, then by descent to the present owners.
