A page of Prince original handwritten working lyrics for the unreleased song “I Hope We Work It Out. ” Written on lined yellow paper with Prince’s embellishments in the title of the song, using hearts as quotation marks and drawing the outline of a woman in the “W” of “We” and nipples in the “W” of “Work.” He has signed the lyrics “Prince” at the bottom of the page. Additionally, numeric notations are on the bottom of the page. The song was written at the suggestion of audio engineer David Rivkin and was played at a private luncheon when Prince flew to California to sign his contract with Warner Brothers. The song was Prince’s personal thank you to Warner Brothers. It includes the lines “Makin’ music naturally, Me and W.B./ Music for the young and old, music bound to be gold.” The Prince Vault website states that this song was recorded at Sound80 in Minneapolis, Minnesota, in 1977.
