A vintage ¼-inch magnetic tape recording of three early songs by Prince. The recording was produced circa 1976-1977 at Sound80 studio in Prince’s hometown of Minneapolis, Minnesota, and sent out as a demo to various record labels in order to draw attention to Prince’s musical talent. The subsequent publicity lead to a contract with Warner Brothers. The three songs on the recording are “Just as Long as We’re Together,” “My Love Is Forever,” and “Jelly Jam.” After receiving his contract, the first two songs were re-recorded and released on Prince’s debut album For You (Warner Bros., 1978) with the last song being modified and added as a coda to the first song. The reel is housed in a vintage Sound80 studio brand box. Prince wrote his name and the titles of each song on the verso of the box, dotting the “I” in his name with a heart and altering the “W” in the first track to look like a pair of breasts. Also present are production notes and a credit to audio engineer David Rivkin. A portion of the net proceeds of this item to the seller will be donated to the nonprofit: Our House LA's Camp Erin for Grieving Children.
