$400
Scrimshaw bovine powder horn without wood plug but with a shaped horn pouring spout. Inscribed "Boston" with a town and harbor scene and "J. Gould 4 Suff. Co. Regt. 1777"; measures approximately 10-3/4" long. From the fourth Regiment of Suffolk County, Continental Army, whose commander at that time was Colonel Benjamin Hawes. No records of "J. Gould", indicates this person was probably an enlisted man, as only officers of Hawes' Regiment have available records.
