Persian Gabbeh deep red/wine hued rug with white fringes; measures approximately 5'3" x 5'11"; in Good overall condition.In Farsi, the traditional language of Persia, the word Gabbeh means raw, natural, or uncut. Gabbeh rugs are tribal rugs originating in the south central region of the Zagros mountains in Iran. Women traditionally made these rugs which have geometric shapes and often told a story or conveyed an emotion through their design and bright colors. Gabbeh rugs are much thicker than other Persian rugs and are made of natural, hand-spun wool yarn and all the colors a created with natural plant dye.
