In the inscription on the reverse, the artist cites the sources for the work's imagery, including a collaged photograph of a parachute taken by the artist in New Zealand in 1998 (and further hand-embellished by the artist), a collaged reproduction of Francesco Albani's painting Adonis Led by Cupids to Venus , and a collaged and painted angel after the 18th-century Neapolitan creche angels from the annual Christmas Tree at the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
