Ara Güler (Turkish, b. 1928) A religious inscription to "Allah" outside a Mosque of the 16th century in Edirne, Northern Turkey , 1956, printed later. Signed "Ara Guler" in black ink on the image l.r., stamped with the photographer's studio label on the verso at center. Gelatin silver print, image/sheet size 14 3/8 x 11 3/8 in. (36.5 x 29.0 cm), matted, unframed. Condition: Scattered subtle mold or similar on the recto, affixed to black paper at upper third of print. Provenance: Acquired from the artist in Turkey in the 1980s by the current owner. N.B. A member of Magnum Photos since 1961, Güler is an Armenian/Turkish photojournalist who captured Turkey's political transformation in the 1950s.
