Gilt-bronze Altar Pendant and a Bronze Letter Opener, Japan, Kamakura period style, the heart-shaped metal sheet pendant decorated with a repousse ribbon in the center, nailed against a ground with openwork peony design, five beaded gilt sheet ornaments of Buddhist emblems hanging in interval along the bottom curve, finely chased and punched details, ht. 11, wd. 6 5/8; and the letter opener, with a shrimp-shaped handle decorated with inlaid metal shells to the underside, the blade with engraved bird-and-flower designs to both sides, lg. 11 in.
