Eight-panel Coromandel Lacquer Screen, China, 19th century, depicting a continuous scene of a palace compound with many figures performing daily activities, framed by square panels at the bottom depicting various vases and floral arrangements, and top depicting mountain landscapes, the reverse with pairs of birds including peacocks, phoenixes, and songbirds, surrounded by rockery and flowering trees, the top and bottom panels each with flowering plants, each panel 95 x 16 1/4 in.
