Kashan Rooster-headed Lustre Pitcher, Persia, possibly 13th/14th century, quatrefoil ribbed body with molded human forms on four sides, the neck narrowing and flaring to end in a molded rooster-head mouth, all decorated with brown lustre glaze, the body decorated with depictions of seated figures alternating with arabesques and bands of Kufic script, ht. 9 3/4 in. Provenance: Estate of Irma Weiss. Note: H. Kevorkian collection and Persian Exhibition New York 1940 stickers on base.
