William Matthew Prior (Massachusetts, Maine, 1806-1873) Portrait of a Boy with a Bow Tie Signed, inscribed and dated "Painted by Wm M. Prior/of Boston. formerly of Portland Me./Painted in Lynn Mass/March 12 1842." on the reverse. Oil on board, the boy wearing a black jacket with a white collar ruffle, 14 1/8 x 10 1/4 in., in a grain-painted frame. Condition: Small spots of retouch at a few areas near the frame. Provenance: Department of Arts and Sciences International Business Machines Corporation, Armonk, New York.
