Edward Preble and John Paul Jones Comitia Americana Medals, Paris, France, 19th century, an 1804 Edward Preble medal struck in bronzed copper, a relatively early striking with no die rust present but the reverse rim shows a large cud from 10:00 to about 12:00 with associated filing, (chocolaty brown with traces of luster in the tight areas and a small obverse rim dent at 3:00), approx. dia. 64 mm; and a 1779 John Paul Jones medal restrike in bronzed copper from the original dies at the Paris mint between 1845-1860, with minor die rust on reverse rim around 9:00 and marked "CUIVRE" on the rim, (mahogany brown toning), approx. dia. 57 mm.
