Needlework Sampler "Mary Shillaber," Danvers, Massachusetts, c. 1776, worked in silk threads on a linen background with four lines of alphabet and numbers above a verse reading: "Accept The Call And Turn Unto Thy God/Fear Not The Tyrants Yoke Nor Cruel Rod/The Lord Our Lawgiver Our Judge And King/Shall In The Mount Appear & Succour Bring/Mary Shillaber Her Sampler Aged 14 1776/When This You See Remember Me," with a scene composed of a large central flowering bush flanked by a woman in a red and yellow striped gown and a man in a red faced green military coat, with trees, birds, and animals around the edges, ht. 15, wd. 12 3/4 in.
