Chinese, Qing Dynasty Qianlong Period mark (1736-1795), likely 19th century. A finely painted famille jaune round lidded porcelain box with Royal Emblem motif, the box of flattened ball form raised on a round foot, the porcelain with hand painted enamels in pink, green, and blue on an iron yellow ground, the lid decoration of a kaleidoscopic pattern with central floriform to lid surrounded by four bat forms over foliates adorned with a chrysanthemum blossom, between the foliate fields are four auspicious symbols including a Dharma Wheel, a Conch shell, a parasol or canopy, and the Royal Banner, the base with similar decoration with auspicious symbols including the endless knot, pair of goldfishes, treasure vase or sacred vase, and a lotus flower, the round foot with a band of meandering key, the interior with allover clair-de-lune pale blue glaze. Marked to underside with six character blue underglaze Qianlong imperial reign archaic mark. Approximate height 5.75", diameter 10.75".
