Asprey (English, founded 1781), circa third quarter 19th century. A sterling and shagreen covered Minaudiere or small lined card or cigarette case having a scarce albino shagreen exterior with traces of decorative enamel work opening to a faded red silk lined interior. Interior rim stamped "ASPREY 166 BOND STREET W" along with hallmarks for silversmith Henry William Dee (English, 1823-1896). Clasp is also stamped "'PATENT CLASP". Approximate height .87", width 4.25", depth 3".
