American, late 19th century. A Victorian carved and ebonized Neoclassical fire screen frame, with a acanthus and rocaille crested cornice over a foliated frieze, with carved and turned stiles, on scrolled and carved shoe feet decorated with fruit and acanthus leaves, the center panel removed and fitted with a hammered gong. Apparently unmarked. Approximate height 44.5", width 26", depth 22.5".
