Eduard Schürmann & Co. (German (Frankfurt), 1836-1930), after 1886. A very fine 800 silver mounted etched glass claret jug, the pear shaped glass bottle carved with elaborate, scroll, trellis, and floral patterning conforming to the removable silver collar with flip-top spout bearing scrolled handle, molded shell and floral decoration, and fields of pierced trelliswork patterning, with gilt washed interior. Impressed maker's mark to lid "Schürmann" and impressed standard marks to back of collar near handle. Approximate height 11.625", width spout to handle 6.5". Provenance: Property from the Private Collection of Baroness Liselotte von Schwarzbek, Vienna, Austria thence by descent through the family to the present owner in Atlanta, Georgia. Note: Eduard Schürmann & Co. was one of four firms that contributed to the wedding service of Wilhelm II. The company exhibited at the 1893 World's Fair in Chicago and were appointed as court jewelers in 1903.
