Ball, Tompkins & Black (American (New York), c. 1839-1851). A fine American coin silver divided round dresser box of cylindrical form with hinged lid opening to reveal four equal sized compartments separated by a silver cross, the exterior flat chased with foliate scrolls and flowers, with flambeau finial to lid, and monogram cartouche to front engraved "EMK". Approximate overall height 5.5", diameter 6.25". Approximate weight 27.5 troy ounces. Note: Ball, Tompkins & Black where successors to Marquand & Co. (1834-1839), and succeeded by Ball, Black & Co. (1851-1876).
