Likely Indian Colonial period (1763-1947), circa early 19th century. A pair of heavy and fine sterling silver oval bowls or dishes each having single notched band accent to interior of rolled rim. English lion rampant standard mark and crown impressed to rim of each accompanied with somewhat indistinguishable marks, including starburst, suggesting manufacture by Hippolitus Poignand (1761-1805, active in Calcutta 1793-1805). Each dish acid tested in several places as 925/1000 quality. Approximate width 9", depth 6.5". Total approximate weight 22.4 troy ounces.
