English, late 18th/early 19th century. A Regency period tortoiseshell tea caddy, having a serpentine, pagoda form lid mounted with a silver escutcheon (blank), over a conforming body with a silver key escutcheon, resting a shaped base and boxwood bun feet. Hinged lid is line in dark blue velvet, and opens to reveal two compartments, each with a tortoiseshell lid with a pull, and remnants of leaded lining. Apparently unmarked. Approximate height 5.75", width 7.75", depth 5".
