Roy Lichtenstein (American, 1923-1997), "Haystacks #6"-1969, lithograph with screenprinting, from the Haystack Series, edition of 100 with ten artist's proofs, published by Gemini, Los Angles, graphite signed, dated and edition noted to lower margin "A/P IX R Lichtenstein '69", with blind stamp to lower right recto, with graphite inscription to verso "RL69-236", with publisher's stamp to verso "Gemini G. E.L., Los Angeles Calif". Optic pop art print depicting haystacks in an open field. Image size approximately 13.25" x 23.225". Sheet size approximately 20.5" x 30.5". Note: in 1968-69 Lichtenstein produced a series of paintings after the icon works of Claude Monet (French, 1840-1926) ('Haystacks'-circa 1890/1, and ‘Rouen Cathedral'-circa 1894). In 1969, Lichtenstein made prints on this theme. The 'Haystacks' Series is comprised of seven images, each intended to demonstrate a mechanical or mechanized version of Monet's original light effects.
