French, mid to late 19th century. A large mahogany Louis XVI style carved fire screen, having a flat pediment top, mounted with a figural gilt ormolu frieze depicting the four muses, above a carved frame mounted with gilt rosettes, surrounded a silk embroidered Claudian-style pastoral scene, with a tucked and ruffled silk backing, the whole resting on splayed saber feet. Apparently unmarked. Approximate height 57.495", width 33.8", depth 15.7".
