Continental, likely French, late 19th/early 20th century. A pair of wide Louis XV or Rococo style kidney shaped armchairs, each having a rounded walnut crest rail, with egg and dart carving, accented with a central painted gold acanthus and rosette, sloping into curved arm rails, each with painted gold accents and C-scroll handholds, with a kidney shaped back and seat, with a serpentine apron accented with a painted gold shell, on four incurvate legs. Upholstered in green and blue striped fabric. Apparently unmarked. Approximate height 33.5", width 33.625", seat depth 20", seat to floor 18".
