English, late 18/early 19th century. A pair of period Heppelwhite style mahogany side chairs, each string and marquetry inlaid with satinwood and having a hand carved shield form back, with a pierced and plumed splat, an upholstered serpentine front seat cushion, a conforming seat rail, with tapered front legs terminating in arrow feet, and saber back legs. Upholstered in striped and foliated yellow silk. Each signed "F.C." to interior rail. Approximate height 34.325", width 18", seat depth 15.5", seat to floor 19".
