Chamberlain (English (Worcester), founded 1783-), circa early 19th century. A collection of 10 pieces of fine porcelain dinner ware in the "Dragon in Compartments" pattern comprising eight salad plates (four each in two contrasting color palettes), one dinner plate, and one low bowl, each piece finely hand painted with an Orientalist motif in tones of red, green, blue, and pink to a white ground with traditional Chinese motif of fu dogs, dragons, peony blossoms, diaper patterning, and floral scrolls. Underside of one salad plate inscribed "Chamberlain's Worcester / 75". Underside of low bowl with indistinguishable London seal mark, likely a retailer. Sanguine salad plates approximate diameter 8.625". Green salad plates approximate diameter 8.75". Dinner plate approximate diameter 9.625". Low bowl approximate diameter 9.25". Note: Chamberlain merged with Flight, Barr & Barr in 1840. A similar pattern to this is often attributed as Bengal Tiger.
