Alfredo Sciarrotta (Italian, 1907-1985) for Frederik Lunning Inc. (Danish/American, c.1910-c.1970). A handcrafted modernist copper tray of rectangular form with organic rolled corners, raised on four brass ball feet. Impressed mark to underside "HAND MADE / BY SCIARROTTA FOR / FREDERIK LUNNING, INC" beside "10". Approximate height 2.5", width 13.25", depth 9.625". Note Frederik Lunning (Danish, 1881-1952) was the head of the Copenhagen shop of Georg Jensen before becoming the champion for Jensen's silver works in New York. His love for Scandinavian design resulted in the creation of the Lunning Price which awarded monetary prizes to top artisans from Norway, Denmark, Sweden, and Finland to help further develop their skills. Noted recipients of this award are Hans Wegner, Tapio Wirkkala, Oiva Toikka, Poul Kjærholm, and Kristian Solmer Vedel.
