Proclamation by Andrew Jackson, string bound booklet, published in 1832/33 by Henry Welsh of Harrisburg. A first edition booklet documenting the Nullification Proclamation delivered by President Jackson on December 10, 1832 as issued to the people of South Carolina disputing the state's right to nullify a federal law, the proclamation was written in response to an ordinance issue by a South Carolina convention that declared void the tariff acts of 1828 and 1832 as being in violation of the "true meaning and intent thereof" of the United States Constitution.
