Chinese, Ming Dynasty Xuande Period mark (1426-1435), likely 19th century. A unique stone mounted cloisonne on bronze octagonal lidded box, the whole raised on four ball feet unseen below flaring octagonal foot conforming to body walls, the narrow end panels of body each mounted with an ovular jade cabochon and the central wider walls each mounted with two rough green stones, the conforming lid with similarly flaring rim surmounted by a graduated pedestal form with gilt bands with round cabochon stones and at top center a single turquoise disc with round aperture, the body cloisonne being decorated to vivid blue ground with red, green, cobalt, pink, and gold vines and chrysanthemum blossoms, the lid cloisonne with similar decoration along with wave forms with mountains at center, the stone mounting possibly representing a sun or moon. Marked to underside with four character Xuande imperial reign mark. Accompanied with brown silk box with fitted interior. Approximate height 6.5", width 10", depth 7.75".
