qianlong period (1736-1795) of rectangular baluster form flanked by a pair of lion's mask ring handles, one side depicting a scholar bearing a prunus branch riding on the back of a donkey followed by an attendant carrying a kettle, all under trees in an outdoor scene, having a cinnabar lacquer and gilt stopper. Height 2 3/4 inches. Provenance: Important Chinese Snuff Bottles, The G. P. Mack Collection, Sotheby's New York, October 25, 1997, sale 7033, lot 0252 Overall good condition with no apparent chips, cracks or restoration. Well hollowed. Missing the spoon.
