$5,000
Chanel Haute Couture, 1932, with double spaghetti straps and a back zip closure. Labeled: Chanel. Purchased at the Didier Ludot Sotheby's Paris Auction, Lot 44. All four of the bodice darts have been altered - taken in; there are old stitch lines visible on the taffeta lining. The exterior looks good, the alterations were well done. There was originally a center-front split which has been sewn up. The hem edge has a narrow chiffon lining band and this has the odd small scattered hole. The waistband is worn at the closure. There is an old, well-done repair below the center-back skirt opening. The center-back seam needs re-stitching approx 3m below the fastenings and there is a 2cm split to one side of this. The skirt has been shortened at the waistband. The straps have been later re-backed in black satin ribbon for extra support. b.81-86cm, 32-34in, high waist. 61cm, 24in no.45953. There is tissue paper adhered to a small area of sequins at the back left bottom hem. Additional photographs available upon request.
