D*FACE (British, 1978) UNLOVED , 2013 Silkscreen on steel 14 inches, diameter Numbered 3/5, and signed and dated on verso. D*Face made a series of oil-based screen print on steel discs of which The Unloved is a part of. Titles include A Wing and a Prayer, Undead, Time Flies, Double Crossers, and Unfollow. Each of the works includes a foreboding eye, much like the Phoenician eye of Fatima. The metal object is reminiscent of a Roman shield and when combined with the symbolism of Fatima's eye, it seems that D*Face uses his steel to ward off the evil omens represented in his titles.
